SQA Diploma to Degree
The SQA needed to revitalise their Diploma to Degree brand.
Despite each brand having its own distinct identity, there was a noticeable lack of cohesiveness within the SQA brand family. The Diploma to Degree brand, in particular, felt disconnected from the Higher National Qualifications (HNQ), and the existing design lacked the flexibility needed to adapt to evolving needs.

It all begins with an idea. I used a key element from the SQA logo as the foundation. To represent the growth and progression of the Diploma to Degree pathway, I incorporated arrows that pointed upwards and forwards. This dynamic design visually conveys the journey students take. Moreover, I used these arrows in different ways to distinguish between the Higher National Certificate and International Advanced Qualifications, all while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.








Challenge
Refresh the SQA Diploma to Degree, enhance brand alignment between SQA, Diploma to Degree, HNQ and Advanced qualification. Increase design flexibility and improve brand recognition.
Action
I redesigned the Diploma to Degree brand to make it more appealing and relevant to its target audience. This included updating the logo, typography, and overall aesthetic, alongside developing a strong brand message and consistent visual language across all marketing materials.
